S P A C E TO ALIGN TO BE TO CONNECT

I left Montreal at age 36 to create a thesis on technology. I’m 42 now, back in the province that provided me formal education and an incredible career earning my living through my passion for visual effects and immersive entertainment.

Although I began my education in building engineering, I soon realized that the true call of my heart was not just in creating structures, but in understanding the very framework of human behavioral patterns. So while I embarked on a 15-year career in the film and visual effects industry, I simultaneously explored the inner-dimensions of the human being. I naturally started to bridge these worlds through my artistic practice of studying light, shape, composition and movement, and this directed me to carefully observe the invisible space - the negative space - between human beings and objects. Doing so illuminated the hidden patterns between us and our environments. This led to a decade-long task of mapping these invisible forces that connect and bond human beings. 

As technology advanced in visual effects, I quickly saw the danger “deepfakes”, cybersecurity risks, destabilizing economies, and of it becoming a cold, calculating entity, detached from the warmth of human empathy. Measuring human qualities like kindness or love through algorithms is an endeavor fraught with challenges. Such artificial systems can lead us further from our true essence, causing disconnections in our inner world and reflecting this discord outwards. I described this phenomenon as a fragmentation in the “third eye” of humanity – our perspectives are impulsively influenced and sometimes shackled by the technology we’ve created. It’s on our desks, in our hands, or, as with virtual reality - now enveloping our heads.

This realization fueled my mission: to harness technology as a humane bridge, not an artificial barrier. I spent 6 years in Vancouver writing and spatializing a thesis to initiate a “Pause Interface” in order to create healthy boundaries for us to recenter ourselves, before entering the digital landscape. Through my VR studio, I’m offering a virtual map of mirrors, allowing individuals to rediscover their inner guidance. The aim of this pause interface is to transform screens into reflector-projectors, translating our profound insights into tangible, practical optimizations. In doing so, we can tap into the vast reservoir of our collective intelligence and common patterns, which often remain unseen and underutilized, masked by the impulses of trends, consumerism, and stress-fueled productivity.

Over the last 3 years, my work has focused on restoring the human attention span for individuals, and initiating a public trust fund for a parallel humane AGI system which supplements and compliments our current economic structures. By understanding and educating people on how we can resolve challenges for individuals and systems, we can create harmonious interactions between humanity and the digital world. With a meticulously planned journey from 11.11.2022 to 11.11.2033, I’ve designed spaces and systems that seek to balance the immense power of technology with the timeless wisdom of the heart. This becomes a matter of curating collective trust.
